WORKS OF THE SECOND PERIOD

Second period (1989-1993): This period marks the entry into the documentary genre, incorporating the historical-testimonial theme to the forms of montage of the previous period.
Aesthetically, these audiovisuals are structured on the narrative of their protagonists but a large percentage of the total real time (half or more) of each work is still tinted with the music-image style of the previous period.
Beginning in this period, and more precisely with Memories of the Immigrants’ Hospital (Memorias del Hospital de Inmigrantes), the works begin to unfold on three well differentiated planes: the documentary, exclusively concerning the historical-testimonial context, the formal, related to the purely aesthetic aspect and a third sense, inextricably linked to the second one and radiated towards a psychological expression that replaces the merely intellectual one which the author outlined in the above-mentioned literary essays as well as in subsequent ones.

Consequently, Ages in the Wind (Las Edades en el Viento), The Path of Lights (El Sendero de las Luces) and the culminating work The Enigma of the Great Voices are part of this period (El Enigma de las Grandes Voces).
